Care Instructions

01Oil the blade after every use. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil or blade lubricant across the full blade surface after each use. High-carbon steel reacts to moisture — regular oiling is the single most important step to prevent rust and corrosion.

02Wipe clean after every use. Remove blood, dirt, sap, and moisture with a clean dry cloth immediately after use. Never leave organic material on the blade — it accelerates oxidation and dulls the edge faster.

03Do not store long-term in the leather sheath. Leather retains moisture which causes carbon steel to rust over time. For long-term storage, oil the blade thoroughly, wrap in a dry cloth or plastic bag, and store in a cool dry place separately from the sheath.

04Sharpen with a whetstone or honing rod. The plain edge is easy to maintain. Use a whetstone (start 400 grit, finish 1000+ grit) or a ceramic honing rod at a consistent 15–20 degree angle. Sharpen regularly to maintain peak cutting performance.
